Helping Hand is dedicated to helping local causes…and this one certainly caught our attention. Five lads from Leyland embarked upon a marathon row which saw them use one single rowing machine to row over 20 marathons in 72 hours. That’s the equivalent of rowing from Leyland to Paris!

This epic challenge, undertaken at Crossfit Leyland, was in aid of
Endometriosis UK, a cause close to the heart of Mark, one of the rowers. Mark’s wife Laura was diagnosed with Stage 4 Endometriosis, which is the most severe stage of this condition. Talking about Laura’s struggle, Mark says “it's safe to say that we have been on quite a journey over the last 18 months and have had more setbacks and "bad news days" than I can recall. But the way Laura has handled herself throughout has only reinforced my belief that she is unquestionably the strongest and most inspiring person I've ever known.”

Endometriosis facts:
- 176million women worldwide have endometriosis
- It is the second most common gynaecological condition in the UK
- It currently takes an average of 7.5 years for a diagnosis
- 40% of infertile women are affected by the condition

Aiming to raise £2,000, their target has been smashed and to date they have raised close to £3,500 for this extremely worthy cause. If you would like to make a donation visit -
